For me photography came about as an excuse to get outside be closer to wildlife. I'm an avid fisherman and I split my time between fishing and photography. I always thought it would be fun to become a hunter, but the thought of actually killing the animal didn't interest me. What did interest me was being outside in all sorts of weather conditions, waiting for an animal to come into view.

Photography was the obvious choice of activities, and as I said earlier, an excuse to be outside with nature. Armed with a camera I have enjoyed many days out in beautiful weather as well as sub zero blizzards. I consider myself just a modified wildlife and bird watcher (and wolf, and coyote and other animals). The difference is I like to come back home and experience the encounters again by way of a photo on my computer. I have expanded my choice of subjects as my photography has grown. Along with animals, I enjoy great landscape photography. Some of the most beautiful and breath taking images are from remote views of amazing landscape. Landscapes also happen to be one of most pleasing piece to put on your wall.

Pet photography has become another specialty of mine. I've always been a pet person and have always owned a dog. I love outdoor and candid images and it's a real blend of portrait photography with wildlife photography.

My other photography interests include sports, automotive and basically anything outdoors that doesn't involve too much posing.

Now I have a chance to share my photographs with everyone. I created Natural Vision Photography with Derek as a way to do just that, share our work. Nothing is more rewarding than someone else enjoying the photographs and animals that I enjoy.
